SUSHI KING CHINESE NEW YEAR PROSPERITY YEE SANG AND BENTO @ GURNEY PLAZA

Sushi King is already a well-known Japanese cuisine restaurant and is the first fast food chain to introduce their sushi on the kaiten (conveyor belt) in Malaysia. In a warm and friendly environment plus freshly used ingredients, Sushi King has excelled among some of the best in this region. This year for Chinese New Year 2017, Sushi King has come up with their “Doubly Fresh Doubly Joyous” theme where diners will get to savour some of their best spreads at an affordable pricing. The promotion will last from now until 28 February 2017. For each RM68 spent, you will also be entitled to a set of limited edition Sushi King Daruma Red Packets and also be in the running to win an all-expense paid trip to Tokyo. 

Let me start by introducing some of the hottest deals for this season. The Yee Sang is prepared with freshly ingredients such as salmon slices, baby octopus and vegetables. During the Chinese New Year, there is a traditional which is “lou yee sang”, which is all diners stand up and start toss the ingredients into the air with chopsticks while saying variety of “auspicious” wishes, like “bu bu gao sheng” (步步高升)or “nian nian you yu”（年年有余. The most commonly heard is “HENG AH! ONG AH! HUAT AH!” which means prosperity, luck and wealth. This set of Yee Sang with premium salmon slices and minced salmon is priced at cost RM45.88++ per set. The next dish I’m going to recommend is the Sushi King’s CNY Bento. The CNY Bento consists of deep fried chicken and salmon served with mini sized Yee Sang. This Bento costs only RM19.90++ per set.

Other notable dishes to be enjoyed at Sushi King during this festive season are exclusive Chinese New Year sushi such as the Spicy Salmon Teriyaki Sushi, Salmon Teriyaki Sushi, Fried Salmon Sushi and other assorted sushi to be devoured. Not to forget are joyous rice dishes created in Sushi King’s own versions of Salmon Don, Ontama Salmon Don and Seafood Bento.

The Hanjuku Cheese Cake (RM4.00++), a half baked cheese cake was delicious.
 

Overall, I like all the dishes served for this season especially the Yee Sang as everyone can taste the minced salmon instead of the normal sharing of few slices.

NANDO’S NEW MANGO & LIME PERI-PERI CHICKEN

Nando’s is no longer a new name in the F&B industry and with almost 2 decades of experience in preparing finger licking grilled chicken. Recently, they have launched a new flavor which is the Mango & Lime Peri Peri Chicken, something mild but yet filled with tints of sweetness and sourness.

To get the best indulgence in fulfilling your appetite, you should go for their Full Meal Sharing Platter (RM59.90+) which will include one whole chicken with 4 regular sides or 2 filo sides. The order will be more than enough for 2-3 persons.

THE FIRST TEXAS CHICKEN OUTLET OPENING UP NORTH IN PENANG

After waiting for so many months, the 34th branch of Texas Chicken finally opened its door in 1st Avenue Mall, Penang on 19 January 2017, the first outlet up North outside Klang Valley. The opening was officiated by franchise partner Envictus International Holdings Limited (formerly known as Etika Holdings) Chairman, Datuk Jaya JB Tan and Amarpal Sandhu, General Manager of Texas Chicken Asia-Pacific.

Texas Chicken do serve great tasting chicken either with bones or boneless with two options of flavours – original or spicy. Each set will come with their signature honey-butter cookies which can be quite addictive. Moreover, the beverages ordered are refillable.

If you have more space left in your stomach, you can also try out their many desserts. I quite like their Chocolate Volcano (RM7.90) which is not too sweet.
